The data behind the numbers

10 September 2026 · Data sources

WorthCheck does not buy a clickstream panel. Each report is assembled from public APIs plus a published traffic curve.

Tranco rank

Tranco is a research ranking of popular websites. WorthCheck reads the current rank and up to 30 days of history. Daily visitors are modelled as 900 million divided by that rank. Rank 1 is Google-scale; rank 1,000 is far smaller.

RDAP / WHOIS

Registrar, created date, expiry, status and nameservers come from RDAP. Domain age can slightly raise or lower the model: very new sites are discounted; very old ones get a small CPM bump.

DNS and geo

Cloudflare DNS (or a local lookup) gives an A record. IP geolocation maps that host to country, city, ISP and organisation. Country selects the CPM table — US and CH pay more than IN or PK in this model.

Homepage meta

WorthCheck fetches the public homepage over HTTPS then HTTP, reads title and description, and records whether the site answered. That is reachability, not content scoring.

Cache

Successful lookups can stay in memory for about six hours so repeat searches do not hammer the same public APIs.
